About APR3
Health authorities in BC began restructuring primary and community care (PCC) in 2015 to support older adults to age in place, by reducing hospital visits and delaying transitions to long-term care (LTC).
The aging in place in rural and remote (APR3) research study was a multi-case study done with the goal of voicing older adults’ experiences with and priorities for restructuring.
From these findings, we gained new insights into how health authorities are meeting their objectives of restructuring and how they are addressing the wishes and social determinants of health of rural older adults.
